Pavement Headlines Make The World Better Opener in Philadelphia on July 24

Indie rock legends Pavement return to Philadelphia this summer to headline the kickoff of the “Make The World Better” concert series on July 24.

Pavement is adding a highlight to their 2026 U.S. summer tour with a special performance at Philadelphia’s Dell Music Center. They will headline the first night of the “Make The World Better” concert weekend, a long-running benefit organized by R5 Productions dedicated to revitalizing public spaces around Philadelphia. Sharing the stage with Pavement are Chicago-based indie rockers Ratboys. The second evening features Philadelphia’s own Kurt Vile and the Violators alongside emerging local acts They Are Gutting a Body of Water and Twisted Teens.

Known for their influential role in the 1990s American underground scene, Pavement includes Mark Ibold, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, and Steve West. Following five acclaimed albums and a 1999 disbandment, their 2022 reunion brought sold-out shows across major cities worldwide, including headlining Primavera Sound and multiple nights in Los Angeles, New York, and London.

This summer, Pavement’s U.S. dates take them to cities across the country including Oakland, Portland, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, and more, with Philadelphia as a standout night for fans supporting a great cause.
